Sia and her husband, Erik Anders Lang, announced on Wednesday, December 7, that they are separating after two years of marriage. The former couple opened up about their decision to call it quits in a joint statement to Us Weekly.
“After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple,” the pair said in a statement through their rep. “We are, however, dedicated to remaining friends. There will be no further comment.”
Sia, 40, and the film producer revealed their engagement via Instagram in June 2014. That August, they tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at the “Chandelier” singer’s Palm Springs, California, home.
The morning of her nuptials, the Aussie-born pop star took to Twitter to share her enthusiasm over walking down the aisle. “Omg omg I’m so excited,” she wrote.
Since then, the Grammy nominee has remained tight-lipped about her relationship with Lang. She was hesitant to even speak out about her marital status and didn’t confirm that the two exchanged vows until eight months later during an April 2015 interview on Australia’s Nova 69.6 radio show.
“[My mom and Erik] actually fell in love with one another and that was awesome,” the chart-topper gushed at the time. “It's pretty cute.”
Sia and Lang made their last public appearance together at the Spotify pre-Grammy party back in February.
